B-FIGHTER KABUTO INSECT COMMANDER

This device was used by the four additional B-Fighters who appeared in the '96 series B-Fighter Kabuto (last of the Toei Metal Hero shows). B-Fighter Kabuto footage and characters were used for Saban's horrendous hack job Beetleborgs: Metallix.

The changer fits nicely in the palm of your hand. It has an on/off switch, when turned on it makes a small chirping sound. The changer emits a beep every 2 seconds while it's activated. Pressing the black switch makes the lights flash with a jarring alert sound. Inserting an Input Card makes a sound and opens the changer, revealing all four lights which flash in a circular pattern. Pressing the black switch once more activates a loud transformation sound with synchronized flashing lights.

The changer is very well detailed, makes a lot of different sounds and has a great light display. It has mini-displays for each B-Fighter to insert inside the changer which details their Offense, Defense, Speed and Power statistics. There are three Input Cards, plus TWO sticker sheets (why they didn't just include four cards is beyond me).

I bought this at the Mandarake in Shibuya for 2000 yen, which is about $17 US. It runs on two AAAs. If you like henshin devices and can find one, I highly recommend it. An American version was (planned I believe, but) not made for Beetleborgs: Metallix. Also, all tokusatsu fans should check out B-Fighter Kabuto. It's a great show, especially once the B-Crusher appears.

The B-Changer box (mine's autographed by Reuben Langdon), input cards, sticker sheet.

Final Word: Ergonomic and detailed, good play value. B+
