V-COMMANDER/QUANTUM MORPHER

In the picture above, the top half shows the American Quantum Morpher. It is the same toy that was worn by the character Eric Myers on Time Force:

The bottom half is of the Japanese V-Commander. Note the obviously different buttons. The V-Commander only came packaged with the Japanese V-Rex as its remote control:

The American Q-Rex also had the same remote control with the original Japanese markings that differ from the Quantum Morpher. Apparently the Quantum Morpher was developed by Bandai America for kids who couldn't afford the Q-Rex, I can currently find no evidence that an individually packaged V-Commander was sold in Japan.

The Quantum Morpher has four buttons (the bottom three are solid and don't do anything). After turning it on, the red LED display lights up and begins blinking in a set pattern. It will beep every 5 seconds while it's on. The top button activates a power up sound, the LED will escalate from 1-9 then descend from 5-1 and blink 0 three times. The left button calls the Q-Rex, making a brief alarm followed by a flash. The middle button is a morphing sequence that activates an elaborate LED show with a cascading sound effect. Finally, the right is the standard communication/alarm button that will ring for seven seconds. Each button has a synchronized LED pattern that accompanies it. Although the red '8' LED may sound simple, it's still one of the best animated lights on any morpher.

The Quantum Morpher (like the Chrono Morpher) is a good toy with a great light and sound display. Innacurate to Timeranger but a nice US exclusive. The Quantum Morpher goes for around $15-25 on Ebay and appears occasionally.

Final Word: A solid toy for Time Force fans. B+
